In the past, the hardware solution and neccesary network coverage to collect and manage data have been rather expensive due to the cost heavy network infrastructure needed. This is where Helium Network comes in with ‘The Peoples Network’.
The Helium Network
Helium is a global, distributed network of Helium Miners that create public, long-range wireless coverage for LoRaWAN-enabled IoT devices. Basically what this means is the signal of the network is formed by everyday people installing a Helium Miner to earn HNT cryptocurrency tokens. By outsourching the rollout of the infrastructure to provide low cost LoRaWAN coverage, Helium Network opens up a lot of doors to data solutions which where not economically feasible on more traditional networks who need cost intensive infrastructure.
